My Strangest Nutrition Success Strategy is one word:
You may wonder, “How am I supposed to lose weight – or at least not gain weight – over the holiday season if you’re telling me to eat?”
Ha! Great question.
Are you running around Christmas shopping, working hard at the office getting as much work done as possible before you go on vacation, or changing your routine because of visiting relatives?
If so, chances are you’re waiting too long to eat, skipping meals, or rushing out the door without breakfast.
If so, you’ll likely gain weight because you’re overeating at parties and get-togethers (since you didn’t eat much all day).
Or, your body will hold on to the extra fat you want to get rid of because it doesn’t know when you’re going to “starve” again.
So, how do you change this during the busy holiday season?
This is what I do (and I lose a few pounds over Christmas every year because of it!)
- Pack a healthy snack bag and take it with you WHEREVER you go – gift shopping, errands, EVERYWHERE. You never know when you’ll have an unexpected stop that takes you twice as long. If you’re starving, it’s easier to make the wrong choice.
- Eat every 3-4 hours. You MUST eat! Having healthy snacks with you all the time will help. Don’t tell yourself that you’re “saving up” until you get to the holiday party. If you avoid letting yourself get too hungry by eating every 3-4 hours, you’ll make better choices and not overeat.
Simple huh? So eat away…and be guilt-free about it!
