Today is my 3 year wedding anniversary. Wow. It’s amazing how fast time goes by.
I was 37 when I got married. Never thought I would be that old. I mean, I never imagined it would take me that long to find my match!
(Guess the push-up contest on my first date with every guy I went out with wasn’t the best idea…because of course I couldn’t let them win).
Every year my anniversary comes around there’s one theme I’m compelled to share with you:
The Power of Persistence
When Robert announced his engagement to me at his church, one single gal (who secretly had a crush on him) came up to him and said, “Wow, you’re so lucky. I’ve been doing online dating and it’s so hard to find a good guy. There’s such a lack of good men out there. I’m never going to meet anyone…”
Robert replied, “That’s really unfortunate. How long have you been online dating?”
“SIX WHOLE MONTHS!!!!!!” was her cry.
Um, I did online dating for TEN YEARS before I met Robert.
Heck YEAH I was frustrated and discouraged during that looooong decade. I thought I’d never meet the right guy. In fact, I used to entertain my clients with great stories of dates gone wrong (as some who are reading this will remember!)
What would have happened if I had quit looking?
I’d still be single…griping about the “lack of good men out there.”
What are you hoping to accomplish in your life?
Perhaps you’re still in search of your special someone. Or you’ve got work to do on your weight loss and fitness. Or you’ve been wanting to write a book. Or you want to be debt-free.
Keep pressing on.
Pick yourself back up and get going.
The only way to fail is to quit. And you’re NOT a quitter, right?
So… Renew your vision. Refocus your attention. Refresh your thinking.
And get back to working on your goal.
Once you reach it, you’ll look back and be elated that you never gave up on yourself.
I sure am. 🙂
What area of your life needs a renewed focus? In what ways will you persist until you reach it? I’d love to know! Share with me in the comments below.
